Cihan has spent his working life teaching: 12 years in the classroom - he's still a qualified teacher - years running his own tutoring business, then building one of Australia's leading self-paced online maths platforms. Somewhere along the way he retrained in building surveying and worked inside an industry-leading commercial building certification firm, and noticed what the industry rarely makes time for: explaining. CodeCheck is what happened next: teaching, applied to the building code.
Outside the code: dad of two young boys, Kukkiwon black belt who spent a few years teaching kids taekwondo (the man cannot stop teaching), professional spotter of inconsistencies, and a man of strong kebab opinions - he ran his family's kebab shop, took it viral on socials, and sold it.

Mikaela's background is legal - paralegal work - which turns out to be exactly the temperament you want pointed at a construction code: precise, literal, and allergic to quoting a clause from memory. She spends her workdays deep in the NCC and the Australian Standards it references, checking every number against the published page before it goes anywhere near a video or a checklist. Off the clock: hiking, yoga and a healthy pop-culture habit.

We're not registered building surveyors, certifiers or accredited professionals, so there's no conflict of interest - just independent, cited checks against the published code. Sign-off stays with your registered practitioners, and every claim we make comes with its clause reference attached.
